When the Billboard Top 200 Album chart is released tomorrow (9/13), Beyonce's sophomore release B'Day, named to commemorate her birthday on Sept. 4, will sit atop the chart at #1 .
B'Day went on sale Sept. 5 and sits at #47 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart. Beyonce's debut solo album Dangerously in Love also topped the charts at #1 in 2003.
Beyonce and her boyfriend label head/rapper Jay Z will celebrate her achievement in grand style during a bash at an undisclosed location this weekend. The celebration will be short lived however when reality dawns.
According to Soundscan, B'Day scanned just 557,209 - far less than Mary J. Blige's The Breakthrough which sold over 700,000 during it's first week of sales. And less than the projected sales of 600,000 - 650,000.
Jamie Foxx's #1 debut album Unpredictable pushed a very respectable 650,000 units it's first week out. Mary has a new CD set for release sometime around Thanksgiving.
